Celtics Looking Up: Who Will Stay?

Danny Ainge can feel good about his draft picks over the last couple years. Besides giving up on Fab Melo, Jared Sullinger (21st overall draft in 2012) and Kelly Olynyk (13th overall draft in 2013) looked impressive this season and have a promising career in the NBA, God forbid any terrible injuries.

The Celtics need a shot blocker in the paint and will likely be drafting a center this year. Vitor Faverani and Joel Anthony are at best backup centers. The question becomes: who will stay and who will go? With four solid power forwards on the roaster, one can assume Brandon Bass and/or Kris Humphries will be traded to give more playing time to Sullinger and Olynyk.

At the moment the Celtics seem to have it covered at point guard with cunning distributor Rajon Rondo, impressive rookie Phil Pressey, smothering defender Avery Bradley and explosive scorer Jarryd Bayless. Jeff Green is the go to small forward, but could his inconsistencies get him traded? Chris Johnson played well this season filling in for Gerald Wallace after his season ending injury but is still adjusting to the NBA.

Ideally Danny would love to get rid of heavy contracts with G. Wallace and the veteran power forwards. In reality who knows what will happen. Other teams will want good assets that Celtics are willing to get rid of and that could mean anyone from Avery Bradley to Jeff Green and even Jared Sullinger.

Big changes are coming up! Will the Boston Celtics make trades similar to 2008 or continue the slow development with their young talent?
